Private Day Tour from Tirana: Berat UNESCO City, Berat Castle & Optional Wine Tasting

Step inside a city where every window tells a story.

Known as the "City of 1,000 Windows", Berat is one of the Balkans' most extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Sites — and this private full-day tour from Tirana puts you right at its heart.

Begin your exploration in the Mangalemi district, where centuries-old Ottoman houses climb the hillside in perfect symmetry — narrow at the base, wide at the top, each facade lined with rows of wooden windows that have inspired Berat's famous nickname. Wander cobblestone streets unchanged for generations before ascending to Berat Castle, a living fortress over 2,400 years old where families still call home today.

Inside the castle walls, discover the Onufri Museum, housing the breathtaking icon paintings of Albania's most celebrated Byzantine artist. Visit the Church of St. Mary, a converted Byzantine-era church with an active place of worship still within it. Step into a 19th-century Ethnographic Museum, a traditional Berat family home where three generations once lived under one roof. Explore the Old Islamic Quarter — the Bachelors' Mosque, the restored Kings' Mosque, and the Helveti Teqe — silent witnesses to centuries of peaceful coexistence between faiths.

End your day with an optional wine tasting at Çobo Cantina, where indigenous Albanian grapes like Shesh and Debine are fermented into exceptional wines, served with traditional meze.
