Itinerary

Stop At: Apollonia Archaeological Park, Pojan, Albania
After meeting your guide, transfer to Apollonia. Founded around 588 BC, Apollonia became one of the most important cities along the Adriatic coast. Although established by Greek colonists, the city developed through close interaction with Illyrian populations and later flourished under Roman rule. It was known for its strategic position near the Via Egnatia trade network and for its philosophical school, where the young Octavian (later Emperor Augustus) studied. Visitors can explore the Bouleuterion (Council House), Roman Odeon, Library, and Monastery complex that now hosts the Archaeological Museum. The site reflects layers of Greek urban planning and Roman monumental architecture.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Ardenica Monastery, Ardenica, Albania
Built in 1282 by Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos following his victory over the Angevins at the Siege of Berat, Ardenica Monastery is one of Albania’s best-preserved Byzantine religious monuments. In 1451, the marriage of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg and Andronika Arianiti was celebrated here, marking an important moment in Albanian medieval history. The Church of Saint Mary is decorated with remarkable frescoes painted in the 18th century by the Zografi brothers. The monastery once housed an important library and theological school, reinforcing its historical role in Orthodox education.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: National Reserve Divjake–Karavasta, Albania
In the afternoon, explore the Divjaka–Karavasta National Park. Enjoy a boat ride through the lagoon’s wetlands toward Pelican Island. Karavasta hosts one of the largest breeding colonies of the Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus) in the Mediterranean region. Beyond pelicans, the park supports diverse birdlife, pine forests, sand dunes, and rich ecosystems. After the boat ride, walk along a 950-meter wooden boardwalk through the forest and climb the 36-meter panoramic tower for sweeping 360-degree views. On exceptionally clear days, visibility across the Adriatic may extend toward the Italian coastline.
